Restarting Our Blog: A New Chapter for Our Garage Door Business

It has been several years since our last blog post—about nine years, to be exact! Back then, our business was still growing, and life looked a lot different. Since then, we’ve been on an incredible journey. Our business took off to the point that my husband was able to leave his 9-5 job, and we’ve been working on garage doors full-time ever since.
That’s not the only thing that’s changed. We’ve also grown our family from 1 kid to 6! We now have a house full of energy, with kids ranging from 6 months to 10 years old. Life is never boring, and between running a business and raising a big family, things like blogging naturally got pushed to the back burner. But this year, we’re making a change.

Working on the Business, Not Just in the Business

If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that running a business is about more than just doing the work. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind—fixing garage doors, scheduling jobs, handling customer calls—and forget to step back and think about growth, strategy, and how we can better serve our customers.
That’s why, in 2024, we’ve set a goal to work on our business, not just in it. We’ve been diving into small business books, learning from experts, and figuring out how to take our company to the next level. One of the key lessons we’ve come across is the importance of providing value and education to our customers.
