How to know who serviced my garage door?

2/5/2026

If your garage door suddenly starts making an awful noice, stops closing or won't open, one of the first questions you might as is, "Who worked on this last?" Surprisingly, many homeowners don’t know. Garage doors are one of the largest moving systems in your home, but they’re often serviced years apart. By the time something needs attention again, paperwork is long gone and memories are fuzzy. So how do you figure out who serviced your garage door?
1. Check for a Service Sticker
The first place to look is on the inside of the garage door or on the opener itself. Most professional garage door companies place a small “Serviced By” sticker after completing work. This sticker typically includes:
  • Company name
  • Phone number
  • Date of service
That small sticker is more important than people realize. It creates a service history. It gives you a direct contact number in an emergency. It eliminates confusion if multiple companies have worked on your home over time. When a door malfunctions, homeowners rarely want to start researching from scratch. They usually call the company already associated with the system.
That’s why a clear, easy-to-read service sticker matters.
2. Look at Your Opener Panel or Remote
Some companies place labels on the opener housing rather than the door itself. Check:
  • The back or side of the opener unit
  • Near the safety sensors
  • Along the track near the ceiling If you don’t see a sticker at eye level, look up.
3. Search Your Email for Invoices
If you can’t find a sticker, try searching your email for:
  • “garage door”
  • “overhead door”
  • “spring repair”
  • “opener repair”
Many companies send digital invoices that are easier to track than paper copies.

Why It’s Helpful to Call the Same Company
If you can identify who serviced your door last, there are real advantages to calling them again:
  • They may already have notes on your system
  • They may know the age of your springs or opener
  • They may have warranty information on file
  • They understand the exact parts previously installed
In the home service industry, customer retention is powerful for a reason. It costs significantly more to acquire a new customer than to retain an existing one — which is why reputable companies work hard to build long-term relationships, not one-time repairs.
When your service history is easy to identify, it reduces friction for everyone.

What If There’s No Sticker?
If your door doesn’t have a service sticker, that’s not uncommon — especially in older homes.
But moving forward, it’s a good idea to have clear service information placed on the system after any repair or maintenance visit.
A clean, readable service sticker:
  • Helps future homeowners if you sell
  • Helps property managers track maintenance
  • Reduces confusion during emergencies
  • Keeps service history attached to the equipment itself
Why We Recently Updated Ours
Over the years, we’ve placed service stickers on doors and openers we’ve worked on. Recently, we simplified our design after customers told us the previous version felt too busy. They were right.
Our updated sticker is clean, easy to read, and focused on what matters most:
  • Company name
  • Direct phone number
Simple. Visible. Helpful.
Because small details like this make a big difference months or even years down the road.

If you’re ever unsure who serviced your garage door, start by looking at the door or opener itself. That small sticker can save you time, stress, and unnecessary searching. And if you don’t see one? It may be time to establish a clear service record moving forward.
Garage doors last 15–30 years. The companies that service them should be easy to identify.

Our old stickers had a lot of unnecessary information on it. We keep records of all our service visits, so it's redundant to have it on the customer's door.

Our new stickers are clean and easier to read. It has the important information and points the homeowner in the right direction.
